My name is Riley, and I play drums and write music for a band called Thrice.
This is where I ramble about music, sports, food, books, interwebbery, and whatever else I feel like sharing. I apologize in advance.
In addition to my ramblings here, I write a piece for OC Weekly called "3hree Things" that runs every Tuesday, and I'm also writing over at Flip Collective on occasion.
I'm the co-founder of a baseball-specific twitter feed and blog with my friend Ian, called Productive Outs.
And last, but not least, I have a bandcamp page and a soundcloud page that I'll be posting my own music and remixes on every once in a while.
Disclaimer: The views and opinions presented on this blog are mine, and do not reflect the position or views of the band as a whole.

Insomnia is quickly becoming as much a part of a trip to the U.K. as pints of Guinness, the look of confusion on my face every time someone asks me, “You all right?” rather than “How are you?”, and prawn-overload (They’re everywhere; it’s like the U.K.’s version of the pomegranate {or formerly the passion fruit}; it’s a part of everything, all of a sudden.) In an attempt to capitalize on the extra hours afforded by a failure to adjust to an eight hour time difference, I started watching FlashForward last week.
I like the show. I like the premise. I think it has the potential to be awesome, but I have a serious concern that it could ultimately be derailed by “option paralysis” (not the Dillinger Escape Plan record, but the case where having too many potential plot lines will have it meander through a few seasons like a drunken hobo) ala Heroes. There’s another reason I’m having a little trouble to fully committing to being onboard with FlashForward, and the gist of that has a lot to do with this Saturday Night Live skit:
Anyone else feeling that? It pushes certain scenes (containing Joseph Fiennes) into high unintentional comedy for me.
Oi jest haf trebble taken tha goi seeryisly whin he’s inna dremadic scene.
Also, Harold as a bad ass FBI Agent. O___o
Fingers crossed that I can get past that, and that the plot doesn’t noodle itself into a corner (like LOST kinda did for a bit there.)
