My name is Riley, and I play drums and write music for a band called Thrice.
This is where I ramble about music, sports, food, books, interwebbery, and whatever else I feel like sharing. I apologize in advance.
In addition to my ramblings here, I write a piece for OC Weekly called "3hree Things" that runs every Tuesday, and I'm also writing over at Flip Collective on occasion.
I'm the co-founder of a baseball-specific twitter feed and blog with my friend Ian, called Productive Outs.
And last, but not least, I have a bandcamp page and a soundcloud page that I'll be posting my own music and remixes on every once in a while.

Venetian Snares - Rossz csillag alatt született
This record popped up randomly on the morning shuffle today, and I’d forgotten how much I enjoy it. I’d liked a few of Venetian Snares’ earlier records, but only in small doses (due to teeth-grinding glitchy organized chaos programmed at light speed) but with Rossz…, the orchestral pieces and samples used are calming enough to keep the programming from jackhammering you in the back of the eyeballs. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever heard (shocker: I do not have my ear to the ground in search of the best classically-influenced, orchestral-based glitchy electronica.) What I’m saying is, it seems like a record that would be out of place in my music collection, which it is in a way, but it really isn’t. It’s dark, it’s brooding, it’s percussive. It works, and I love it. I’m hoping you will too.
“Hajnal” feels like something from a movie score, gets jazzy for a second, and meshes those two feels with a glitchy breakbeat/drum and bass groove.
“Öngyilkos Vasárnap” is a remix of Billie Holliday’s, “Gloomy Sunday” and is beautiful.
