My name is Riley, and I play drums and write music for a band called Thrice.
This is where I ramble about music, sports, food, books, interwebbery, and whatever else I feel like sharing. I apologize in advance.
In addition to my ramblings here, I write a piece for OC Weekly called “3hree Things” that runs every Tuesday, and I’m also writing over at Flip Collective on occasion.
I’m the co-founder of a baseball-specific twitter feed and blog with my friend Ian, called Productive Outs.
And last, but not least, I have a bandcamp page and a soundcloud page that I’ll be posting my own music and remixes on every once in a while.
Disclaimer: The views and opinions presented on this blog are mine, and do not reflect the position or views of the band as a whole.

My iPod is on a slightly eerie streak of playing songs that are relevant to people I’ve just seen or spoken with. Jesse and Vin from Brand New came out to the show in NYC last night, and reminded me (again) of another reason why I love traveling and playing music; the lifelong friendships with other bands. The tour we did in ‘08 with Brand New and mewithoutYou was the most fun tour I’ve ever been a part of, and seeing those guys last night brought back so many great memories, and such gratitude. Geography and scheduling makes it tough to see friends from tour all that often, so nights like last night are truly special. Love those dudes.

Chances are, you probably don’t listen to enough Cult Of Luna.

The follow up to 2008’s Eternal Kingdom (their most recent LP) is written and half-recorded. Given that Eternal Kingdom was an encouraging step in a more experimental direction, and following the 2010 release of an audio book called Eviga riket, there’s really no telling what might be in store for fans of the band. One thing we can be sure of is that it will be heavy, dynamic and most likely teeming with awesome.
