HERMITOLOGY
My name is Riley, and I play drums and write music for a band called Thrice.
This is where I ramble about music, sports, food, books, interwebbery, and whatever else I feel like sharing. I apologize in advance.
In addition to my ramblings here, I write a piece for OC Weekly called "3hree Things" that runs every Tuesday, and I'm also writing over at Flip Collective on occasion.
I'm the co-founder of a baseball-specific twitter feed and blog with my friend Ian, called Productive Outs.
And last, but not least, I have a bandcamp page and a soundcloud page that I'll be posting my own music and remixes on every once in a while.

Random Start: Errors, “Germany”
They’re on Rock Action (Mogwai’s label) so they’ve gotta be good, right? The answer is yes. I’d recommended them if you like Holy Fuck, mellower Maserati, or…uh, Mogwai, I guess.

Random Start: Errors, “Dance Music”
I discovered Glasgow’s Errors during a late-night hermit session a couple of years ago that had me trawling “Top Friends” lists of bands that I liked, in search of new music. I think this particular bit of trawling was occurring on Mogwai’s page (because they’re on Rock Action, Mogwai’s label.) I checked out Errors, liked what I heard, and I’ve been a fan ever since.
They’re described as “post-electro” (whatever that means) but to me, most of the tracks on It’s Not Something But It Is Like Whatever (2008) sound like they could have come from a collaboration by members from Holy Fuck, Pinback, Minus The Bear, and Mogwai. Probably worth checking out, no?
