My name is Riley, and I play drums and write music for a band called Thrice.
This is where I ramble about music, sports, food, books, interwebbery, and whatever else I feel like sharing. I apologize in advance.
In addition to my ramblings here, I write a piece for OC Weekly called "3hree Things" that runs every Tuesday, and I'm also writing over at Flip Collective on occasion.
I'm the co-founder of a baseball-specific twitter feed and blog with my friend Ian, called Productive Outs.
And last, but not least, I have a bandcamp page and a soundcloud page that I'll be posting my own music and remixes on every once in a while.

Random Start: José González, “Killing For Love”
I’m happy this popped up in the shuffle this morning, because the acoustic crooning of a Swedish-Argentine indie folk singer-songwriter and guitarist is about all my skull can handle at the moment. (It’s full of snot and on the brink of exploding.)
I’m a huge fan of González’s guitar playing, and while his voice is a bit more frail than what I usually tend to gravitate toward when I listen to singer-songwriterly stuff, there’s something about that frailty that perfectly complements his semi-aggressive guitar style.

Random Start: Radiohead, “Creep” (Acoustic)
This version is a true testament to the beauty and power of this song. It’s stripped down to it’s simplest and purest form and it’s just as (if not more) powerful than the album version on Pablo Honey. The scary thing is that as moving as this song is, Radiohead is so damn good they’ve probably got ~20 songs I’d rather hear this way.

One of my favorite tracks from our new record, Major/Minor, performed acoustically at Hurley Studios today.
(I was in the cheering section in the control room, and present for the Facebook takeover/chat during this session.)
