My name is Riley, and I play drums and write music for a band called Thrice.

This is where I ramble about music, sports, food, books, the interwebs and whatever else I deem worthy of sharing.

In addition to my ramblings here, I'm also the co-founder of a baseball-specific twitter feed podcast and blog with my good friend Ian, called Productive Outs.

I also have a bandcamp page and a soundcloud page that I'll be posting my own music and remixes on every once in a while.

Disclaimer: The views and opinions presented on this blog are mine and mine only, and do not reflect the position or views of Thrice as a whole.

In my latest column for PureVolume, I scoured the depths of the Internet to find 10 (Early) Frontrunners For Worst Album Art of 2013. Sure, it’s only March, but whoa … we’re off to a horrendous start.

Week 2 of “Draw A Sports Logo From Memory” is underway over at SB Nation.

This week’s task? The Miami Marlins.

So, naturally, I uh … drew a narwhal/marlin hybrid beast (narlin? marwhal?) and a bastardized M from the old MTV logo.

My good friend Bill Hanstock and the fine folks at SB Nation have embarked on a noble 30-week quest, during which they’ll be asking the Interwebs to draw a sports logo from memory. This is my contribution to this week’s portion of said quest (the Baltimore Orioles logo).

Check out the comments for a slew of the ‘net’s finest work. It’s amazing.

I’m honored to be a part of CX.City’s “Creative Minds, Creative Spaces” series. My interview went live today. It gives a little bit of insight on my creative process, space and routine (or lack thereof). Check it out if you feel so inclined, and if you’re in the market for some new threads, I’d highly recommend checking out CX.City’s gear. They sent me a box of tees and hats a couple weeks ago, and it’s really all I’ve been wearing ever since.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a fan of baseball or not. If you appreciate graphic design or aesthetics at all, this post will punch you squarely in the eye.

Lansing Lugnuts - Midwest League

Ian: Oh dear, it appears Little Luggy has had an accident. :’(

Riley: If Luggy is sharting black sludge (and given his facial expression, there’s absolutely no doubt in my mind that he’s heavily involved in some gastrointestinal gymnastics), he might want…

The lady just finished a painting for the 2012 Laguna Art Museum Auction.

Lithos of this piece and a lot of her other work should be available fairly soon.

Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye: My first foray into the rye beer world, and it’s pretty damn good.

The shop is back open!

I’ve been a huge fan of Jon Contino’s work for a while now, so when it came time to look for designs for Thrice tees for our fall tour, I decided we should take a shot in the dark and hit him up to see if he’d be into the idea. Thankfully, he said yes, and designed two awesome tees. I’m thankful and honored that he agreed to work with us, and can’t wait until the tees are available this fall.

Check out more of Jon’s work here and at CXXVI and check out our merch table on tour

My lady is an artist. She paints clouds. I’m a fan of her (and her work.)
