HERMITOLOGY
My name is Riley, and I play drums and write music for a band called Thrice.
This is where I ramble about music, sports, food, books, interwebbery, and whatever else I feel like sharing. I apologize in advance.
In addition to my ramblings here, I write a piece for OC Weekly called "3hree Things" that runs every Tuesday, and I'm also writing over at Flip Collective on occasion.
I'm the co-founder of a baseball-specific twitter feed and blog with my friend Ian, called Productive Outs.
And last, but not least, I have a bandcamp page and a soundcloud page that I'll be posting my own music and remixes on every once in a while.

I made a super fun and silly video with my friend Brad from Adventure Drums, who you should absolutely be following on Twitter and YouTube (if you’re not already).
A few notes:
- Racquetball is awesome (and awkward as hell).
- I am going to wear a poop brown tracksuit every day from now on.
- I suck at “soloing”. (And many other things.)
- If I were forced to solo for more than four bars I’d hold my breath until I died.
- The urinal scene took at ~30 minutes to shoot because we couldn’t stop laughing.
- I was getting over a cold. Sorry for sniffling.
- I’ve never had more fun shooting any sort of band-related video. Ever.
- Brad is one of the best dudes I know.
I hung out with my good friend, Ray Harkins (Taken, Mikoto), and talked about life, and recorded it.
It was awesome, 100% honest, and incredibly liberating, and if you’ve ever been interested in my life story (although I’m not sure why you would be), this kinda covers the whole thing in a matter of an hour. If you’re a fan of Marc Maron’s WTF Podcast, you might enjoy this.

One year. Twelve months. 365 days. 8,766 hours. 52,949 minutes. 31,556,926 seconds. It can seem like forever, but it’ll pass in a flash. I can’t wrap my head around how much has happened in the past 31,556,926 moments but I know that they all have the potential to matter, and that it’s incredibly important to never lose sight of that.

Riley Breckenridge - We See Things As We Are
This is an old demo of mine that snuck its way into the outro of “Lost Continent” from Thrice’s Alchemy Index Vol. 2 - Water EP. The piece has always been a favorite of mine whether it be a stand-alone piece or functioning as the outro for “Lost Continent”. Something about this piano line feels very Wintery to me, and tis the season for Winter tunes.
